More Than An Athlete is a public mural honoring Kobe Bryant’s 2018 Academy Award for his short film “Dear Basketball.”  This mural captures Kobe’s most treasured achievement, which was not his 5 NBA championship titles, but winning an Oscar.  Kobe is depicted kissing his Oscar trophy on the fourth-floor terrace of Ovation Hollywood (formerly Hollywood & Highland), a stone’s throw from the Dolby Theatre where Bryant received his award. While painting another Kobe mural, Brian was inspired to create a mural of Kobe receiving his Oscar, because “no one’s painted the mural that Kobe would have wanted.”
